NQT Welcome Event for Secondary Schools

For Newly Qualified Teachers teaching secondary age pupils

Outline

This event is to welcome Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) who are registered with Brighton & Hove as the appropriate body for the induction year. Induction tutors are also welcome to attend with their NQT, especially if they are new to the role.

Arrival is from 3.30pm for a light buffet, registration and networking. Teacher union representatives and local authority officers will be available to offer information and advice before and after the main event.

Description

There will be a demonstration of the Brighton & Hove NQT portal, which hosts the training programme, resources, monitoring forms and guidance documents.

There will also be a presentation from a teacher who has recently completed their induction year and some tips for effective classroom management from a member of Brighton & Hove Inclusion Support Service (BHISS).

Outcomes

At the end of this session, NQTs will be aware of their statutory duties and entitlements, as well as how they will be supported in their induction year.
