The team provides a professional advice and support service covering all aspects of school finance. This includes access to a dedicated team of experienced staff, a named contact officer, specialist FMS knowledge and advice, training courses, detailed guidance notes, and support with the annual closedown of accounts and budget planning.
The service is designed for Headteachers, Governors, Business Managers and Bursars. It is available for local authority maintained schools, academies and free schools.
The basis of the charging structure is to cover costs, and not to make a profit. The core finance service is available on a flat rate per phase of school, plus a top up element, based on weighted pupil numbers. This will therefore be an individual price per school / academy / free school.
It is possible to purchase additional service options, which are chargeable on an hourly basis. Current rates are between £37.50 and £50.00 per hour, depending on the phase of school. Additional services that are available to purchase include:
- Provision of absence cover for Bursars / school finance staff
- Training course provision for staff other than Headteachers and Business Managers / Bursars, for example FMS training for other administrative or back office support staff
- Full accounts closure for an academy / free school
