This scheme provides peace-of mind for both your school and your budget providing daily reimbursement support for long-term absence of teaching staff.

This service to schools was previously included within the Human Resource SLA description, however it has been separated out now for the sake of clarity. It is managed between the Human Resource and Finance Resource Units within the Council.

This scheme is available to Primary, Nursery and Special Schools only.

Summary of Service Provision

All Primary, nursery and special (including alternative provision) phase group schools in Brighton & Hove currently pay into the insurance scheme, which compensates the school budget for teachers on long term sick leave. The scheme has been tested against external market based schemes and has been shown to provide value for money, however it is considered that the scheme can only run successfully if all schools within the phase group sign up to it (see the Terms section below).
