Outline of provision
The Primary Standards and Achievement service ensures you have access to a wide range of support from the LA. This includes support should your school find itself in challenging circumstances or in need of urgent help at any time (for example if a school becomes at risk of a “Requires Improvement” or “Inadequate” Ofsted judgement). It also includes School Partnership Adviser support for Ofsted preparation and inspection. The Service Level Agreement also includes ongoing support and advice from the Head of Education, Standards and Achievement; the Senior Partnership Adviser and by the team of primary consultants face to face and by phone.
The Service Level Agreement (SLA) also enables you to access three days of direct school improvement support. The majority of schools use one of these three days for Head Teacher appraisal and objective setting. This leaves all schools with ‘two school improvement days’. Schools can decide to access this support from their allocated SPA to focus on school improvement priorities agreed between you. All School Partnership Advisers (SPAs) are former headteachers and receive up to date training and are Quality Assured. They can provide support to develop leadership and management capacity. Their focus could whole-school improvement, succession planning, the development of middle and aspiring leaders, and training for governors. We can commission a different type of school improvement support on your behalf. The options for a different direct school improvement support day could include commissioning:
- A different SPA for a specific activity, for example a deep dive, learning walk, a focused review of a particular area of school development, or leading training/ development,
- Another headteacher who has particular expertise,
- A National Leader of Education (NLE),
- Local Leaders of Education (LLE),
- A National Leader of Governance
- A Specialist Leader of Education (SLE).
We aim to be as flexible as possible and meet your specific school improvement need.
This SLA includes commissioning and Quality Assurance costs.
