School Meals LA procured Primary & Special School Meals Contract
OUTLINE OF PROVISION
The school meals team commission and manage high quality catering contracts on behalf of schools, to provide healthy cost effective meals. The current contract is 01/08/11 to 31/07/17 and a new contract will be procured from 01/08/2017 – 31/07/2021 with the option to extend up to 24 months. Delegated responsibility is assumed and the service ensures that your school meets your statutory responsibilities in all aspects with regards nutrition, food safety, kitchen health and safety, equipment repair/replacement and ensures auditable financial systems.
WHO CAN PURCHASE?
This is a Local Authority procured School Meals Contract for Primary and Special maintained, academy and free schools.
WHAT IS THE COST STRUCTURE?
The cost structure is based on a number of elements which include fixed and variable costs and would represent the minimum cost to a school to operate the school meals service in house.
Fixed costs/a per school charge associated with ongoing software and support of online payment systems, equipment repair replacement, school meals team support associated with contract management – there is also a variable element based on pupil numbers – free school meals charges are based on eligible pupil numbers.
Any income not spent delivering the service is returned to schools, any shortfall in funds would need to be recouped from schools.
